Ten Girls' Soccer Players from Concordia Lutheran and Lutheran South Earn All-American Honors

Ten girls' high school soccer players from Tomball's Concordia Lutheran High School and Houston's Lutheran South Academy were recognized last month by the Lutheran All American Association for their play in the 2018-2019 soccer season.

More than 100 athletes earned recognition from among the nearly 200 Lutheran high schools in the United States and Canada

Five Texans were honored with First Team All-American selections while an additional three made the second team and two were included in the Freshman All-American Team.

Making the first team for Tomball Concordia Lutheran were sophomore forward Maile Hayes, senior midfielder Alyssa Hinson, junior defender Payton Doiron and sophomore goalkeeper Abby Koehn.

Senior midfielder Alyssa Penney of Lutheran South Academy rounded out the first-team selections.

Three Pioneers were on the second team, including sophomore midfielder Hannah Cottingham and senior defenders Haydee Hallberg and Jacquelyn Morales.

Each school placed one athlete on the Freshman All-American team -- forward Morgan Greensage from Concordia Lutheran and forward Abby Montemayor of Lutheran South Academy.

The Lutheran All-American Association is a unified Lutheran Association that brings together the student-athletes from all Lutheran denominations in the USA and Canada (LCMS, WELS, ELCA, and NALC) in an attempt to foster sisterhood forged through the fires of competition.

The program promotes physical strength and health as well as an active pursuit of Christian ideals in high school student’s personal lives and education.
